SOLGEN Co-organizing International Conference on
“Smart Education in the Post Covid Pandemic”

Walailak University, Thailand, in its 30th founding anniversary, will be holding its 1st Virtual International Research Convention with the theme “The Role of Higher Education in the Post COVID Pandemic” on 28 and 29 March 2022, hosted by Institute of Research and Innovation (IRI) and Center of Excellences.

On this occasion, Center of Excellence for Ecoinformatics as a joint host, School of Languages and General Education and School of Science, Walailak University co-organized an international conference titled “Smart Education in the Post Covid Pandemic” for the purpose of being a platform to exchange knowledge related to post-COVID education among university teachers and researchers from abroad. It is also a platform for graduate students to present their academic work, and is also the start of the dance of building an international academic network of 38 research presenters.

Organizing this meeting was honored by 3 speakers:

Asst. Prof. Dr. Veronico N. Tarrayo, University of Santo Tomas, Philippines
Title: (Does Thai English exist?) How do English language teachers in Thai universities navigate the ideologically charged terrain of Thai English?

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krisanadej Jaroensutasinee, Director of Center of Excellence for Ecoinformatics, School of Science, Walailak University
Title: Smart Agriculture, Machine Learning and AI

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nibondh Tipsrinimit, School of Languages and General Education
Title: The perspectives of Thai Graduates after the Covid crisis

The conference will be held for two days from 28-29 March 2022 via Zoom program and live on the School of Languages ​​and General Education Facebook page.

“Human trafficking routes in the south in the era of globalization”

On March 18, 2022, from 07.00-09.00 pm. , the School of Languages and General Education has organized project “Human trafficking routes in the south in the era of globalization” in accordance with PLOs3, to help students comprehend the issue of human trafficking in the modern era and to encourage the growth of analytical thinking so that students can quickly comprehend the modern global society. There are 649 students joining this activity with enjoyment and gaining a lot of experiences.

Special Lecture on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 21st Century Skills”

เมื่อวันที่ 8 มีนาคม 2565 เวลา 13.30-15.00 น. สาขาวิชาศึกษาทั่วไป ได้จัดให้มีกิจกรรมการบรรยายพิเศษในหัวข้อ “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) และทักษะในศตวรรษที่ 21″ โดย Assistant Professor Doctor Patnarin Supakorn ผู้อำนวยการศูนย์กิจการนานาชาติ ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการจัด workshop การพัฒนารายวิชาเลือกเสรีของหลักสูตรศึกษาทั่วไป เพื่อรองรับและเปิดให้นักศึกษาทุกชั้นปีและทุกหลักสูตรของมหาวิทยาลัยวลัยลักษณ์ลงทะเบียนเรียนในปีการศึกษา 1/2565 ซึ่งการพัฒนารายวิชาเลือกเสรีที่ได้คำนึงถึงความต้องการวิชาเลือกของแต่ละหลักสูตรเพื่อตอบสนองการเสริมสร้างทักษะในศตวรรษที่ 21 ให้กับนักศึกษา และสอดคล้องกับ SDGs โดยเฉพาะในข้อที่ 4 Quality Education (คุณภาพการศึกษา) โดยเป็นส่วนหนึ่งที่เป็น Impact Ranking Indicators ที่มีตัวชี้วัดใน 4 มิติ คือ Research (งานวิจัย) Teaching (งานสอน) Stewardship (การดำเนินการด้านนโยบาย)  และ Outreach (งานบริการวิชาการ) ซึ่งการพัฒนารายวิชาเลือกเสรีของหลักสูตรศึกษาทั่วไป เป็นมิติของการพัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษา ส่งเสริมการศึกษาที่ยั่งยืน และเป็นการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต

SOLGEN organizes Thai language courses for communication for
foreign teachers

สำนักวิชาพหุภาษาและการศึกษาทั่วไป ได้จัดคอร์สเรียนภาษาไทยเพื่อการสื่อสารแก่ชาวต่างชาติ ณ อาคารวิชาการ 5 มหาวิทยาลัยวลัยลักษณ์ นำโดยทีมอาจารย์ภาษาไทย สาขาวิชาการศึกษาทั่วไปเป็นผู้สอน จัดขึ้น 2 รอบ รอบแรกเมื่อช่วงเดือนสิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2563 และรอบที่สองเมื่อช่วงเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2564 ครั้งละ 2 ชั่วโมงต่อเนื่องกันสัปดาห์ละ 1 วัน ต่อเนื่องกัน 5 สัปดาห์ รวมเป็น 10 ชั่วโมงต่อครั้ง โดยในห้องเรียนมีอาจารย์ต่างชาติเข้าร่วมประมาณ 10 คน วัตถุประสงค์ของกิจกรรมนี้ เพื่อให้อาจารย์ชาวต่างชาติได้นำภาษาไทยไปใช้สื่อสารได้จริงในชีวิตประจำวัน สอนคำศัพท์ที่พบบ่อย รวมถึงจำลองสถานการณ์จริง บรรยากาศกิจกรรมเป็นไปอย่างสนุกสนาน มีการเรียนภาษาไทยผ่านเพลงเป็นหนึ่งในเทคนิคเพื่อให้จำคำศัพท์ได้ดีมากขึ้นด้วย
