Walailak University and Sultan Kudarat State University Advance Strategic Collaboration
In September 2024, Walailak University (WU) and Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a dynamic partnership focused on academic, research, and cultural collaboration. Since then, initiatives have already been launched, with more exciting plans set to unfold in 2025.
Walailak University’s School of Languages and General Education (SOLGEN) actively supports the partnership, which has played a fundamental role in facilitating early activities and shaping upcoming programs.

Initial Achievements
The collaboration has already seen early successes:
- Webinar and Research Colloquium (December 2024): Faculty and students from both universities engaged in joint discussions on emerging research topics, fostering a productive exchange of ideas.
- SOLGEN Lecturer at SKSU: A lecturer from SOLGEN has begun teaching General English courses at SKSU, marking the start of academic exchanges between the institutions.



Planned Initiatives for 2024-2025
Building on these early achievements, the following plans are in motion to strengthen the partnership:
- Participation in Chatterbox and Edutainment (Online)
Starting January 2025, SKSU students will join SOLGEN’s Chatterbox and Edutainment sessions, which focus on enhancing English communication skills through interactive and engaging online activities. - Collaborative Research Webinars
Following the December 2024 webinar, more joint webinars are planned to facilitate deeper discussions and shared learning between researchers from both universities. - Annual Research Conference at Walailak University
Scheduled for March 2025, SKSU faculty and students will present their research at Walailak University’s prestigious international conference, providing a global platform for their academic work.
- Peer-Review Collaboration
Beginning in January 2025, SOLGEN lecturers will act as peer reviewers for SKSU research papers, supporting the university’s efforts to elevate the quality of its scholarly output. - Joint Research Projects
Both universities are working on initiating collaborative research projects that address pressing global and regional challenges, showcasing the potential of academic synergy. - Visiting Lecturer Program
Starting in January 2025, SKSU plans to host SOLGEN lecturers as visiting professors to teach graduate-level courses online.
- Cultural Exchange and Joint Teaching
From June to July 2025, SKSU lecturers will visit SOLGEN for co-teaching activities, particularly within English programs, while engaging in cultural exchange to deepen faculty connections. - Student Practicum at SOLGEN
Plans are underway for SKSU students to participate in practical training at Walailak University from June to July 2025, gaining international exposure and hands-on experience. - Co-Supervision of Graduate Research
SKSU has requested SOLGEN lecturers to act as co-supervisors for graduate students’ research projects, ensuring enriched guidance and expertise.
