Workshop on ECO-BLOCK ,a project to optimize waste and hazardous waste management systems, to lead to a green university, in 2nd year

On 29 of August 2021 time 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Asst.Prof. Dr. Laksanara Khwanchum, Lecturer of the School of Languages and General Education  have organized activities “ECO-BLOCK Workshop” in online and onsite formats, which was honored by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nukul Suksuwan, Vice President for Building and Premises to open the event. In this connection, Mr. Praphan Suanleng, the owner of Samui Eco Concrete innovation, and Khun Panipon Phichitsakul, representative of the E2C Koh Samui Waste and Clean Energy Management Learning Center, came to share their experiences in the field of waste management and clean energy. Waste management from the perspective of private entrepreneurs and the gathering of volunteer groups from various foundations to manage household waste problems and the use of waste for commercial use together with a discussion with Asst. Prof. Wisaroon Wongboon, Chairperson of the Green University Project waste and waste management Walailak University on the topic of guidelines and possibilities for utilizing waste.

Innovative Eco-Concrete concept by Mr. Praphan Suan Leng, owner of the 100% solar-powered resort Baan Boom Boxes Resort. Since Samui is a tourist area located on an island surrounded by seawater, waste management in the island is inefficient. Enough to send waste to be dealt with on the coast may cost more than profit. Khun Praphan therefore initiated the idea of using garbage in the island to create maximum benefits. By using waste that is difficult to decompose such as plastic waste, snack bags, refill bags, glass bottles, wood chips or foam to create Eco-Concrete products in various shapes. that can be used in practice The latest work by Praphan and the E2C Samui group is a project to build a passenger pavilion for Ban Laem Hoi School. Koh Samui District Currently, Praphan’s Eco-concrete work is of great interest.

There are online participants from various sectors such as staff and students within Walailak University, representatives from Phum Riang Subdistrict Municipality, Chaiya District, Surat Thani Province by the Director of the Public Health Division and representatives of the VHV from Phum Riang Hospital, representatives from Koh Thuat Subdistrict Municipality, Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, students and teachers from Phawana Phothikun College, Samui District, Surat Thani Province. and the general public interested in participating in the activities Throughout the morning and afternoon sessions making the said activity successful

SOLGEN Big Cleaning Day 2021

On Wednesday August 4, 2021, the 5S working group held a Big Cleaning Day activities at 1pm, which was initiated and supported by the Dean of School of Languages and General Education in a person of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ponsathorn Dechatiwongse.

The ultimate goal of this exercise was to help prepare for the external audit, which is scheduled for August 6, 2021, at 3 p.m.

The WG chair would like to thank everyone for the excellent work you did at your assigned post on this day during the 5S Big Cleaning Day.

The chair of 5S is extremely grateful to everyone who participated in the exercise and believes that SOLGEN deserves a full score when the external audit is completed on Friday, August 6, 2021.

SOLGEN academic collaboration meeting with Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis

On 3 August 2021, Assistant Professor Dr. Pongsatorn Dechatiwong Na Ayutthaya, Acting Dean of the School of Languages and General Education (SOLGEN), was invited from the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis to lecture on the research on the topic “ Driving toward Sustainability” online via Google Meet system, with 50 faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering.

After the lecture, the Dean, together with Assistant Professor  Mark Ulla, Head of Research Department and Ajarn Kitti Shawana from General Education Department, jointly presented SOLGEN’s information in management, teaching and research for exchange to seek opportunities for academic cooperation between SOLGEN and the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis that will take place in the future.

SOLGEN lecturers produced a project to develop memory retention and attitudes in mathematics using the STAD cooperative learning model on 9 November 2020.

Dr. Hareesol Khun-inkeeree, lecturer of General Education Department, Head of Project organized a collaborative teaching and learning management (STAD) training for 21 math teachers from 12 schools in Nopphitam District, Nakhorn Si Thammarat Province on 9 November 2020 at Phasaphasan, Academic Building 5.

SOLGEN lecturers produce research projects that affect to society-Project 1 Tambon 1 University (Koh Thuat Sub-district, Pak Phanang District, Nakhon si Thammarat province)

Asst. Prof. Dr. Laksanara Khwanchum, Head of project, went to the area to exchange information with local government agencies and community leaders.

In the first phase of the project, 1 Tambon 1 University, Walailak University has 36 sub-districts covering the area of ​​Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Krabi Province, Suratthani Province, and Chumphon Province. The government has allocated a budget of more than 120 million baht for the implementation of the project and employment to assist the unemployees, new graduates, as well as to develop skills in 4 areas: financial skill, digital technology, social and English skills along with other specialized skills.

#SOLGEN organized the Personality Development and Professional Makeup Workshop on Wednesday, 3 March 2021 by the Students Support Working Group, School of Languages and General Education at the Lecture Building 5, room 05207 from 1.00 to 4.00 PM. The guest speakers were Ajaan Pavirasa Praditsorn who lectured and demonstrated in the “Personality Development” section, and Ajaan Nasita Kongtawee in the “Proper Makeup Techniques for Work” section. This project was held to be the driving force for every aspect of personality development and to prepare students for the authentic work life. The project received positive feedbacks and cooperation from all the participants. The event was fun. Students fully participated in the workshop activities.

School of Languages and General Education oganized UKPSF writing worshop on Wednesday 20 January 2021.
Dr. Chuthamat Rattikansukha, Head of General Education Department, and UKPSF working group members conducted workshop  to advise 18 SOLGEN member on writing applications by The Higher Education Academy (HEA), United Kingdom.

#SOLGEN Congratulations to Asst.Prof.Dr. Pongsathorn Dechatiwongse who research manuscript titled “Kinetic and thermodynamic studies of neutral dye removal from water using zirconium metal-organic framework analogues” has been published in “Materials Chemistry and Physics” Scopus Q2.
