The School of Languages and General Education took part in the afternoon session of Walailak University’s New Student Orientation 2026 on 4 June 2026 at the Thaiburi Building.

At the beginning of the session, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suthanya Doung-In introduced the university’s teaching and learning approach based on the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF). The session helped new students understand the university’s commitment to quality learning, active student engagement, and continuous development.

Students also had the opportunity to gain insights and guidance on learning English from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pragasit Sitthitikul, Acting Dean of the School, through his talk titled “My First Journey in Learning English at WU.” The presentation highlighted the importance of English as a valuable tool that can open up opportunities for education, career development, and everyday life.

In addition, Asst. Prof. Khalid Midam, a lecturer of the School and Acting Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, introduced various courses and learning activities available to new students during the upcoming semester. These included activities related to English, communication, aesthetics, arts, music, performance, cross-cultural learning, and future skills development. The introduction aimed to broaden students’ perspectives and help them better understand university learning, particularly General Education and English courses.

The atmosphere throughout the session was warm, enjoyable, and welcoming. Through lecturer performances, quiz games, creative activities, and prize-giving sessions, students had opportunities to interact with their lecturers and new friends. The activities helped create a sense of belonging, foster positive relationships, and build students’ confidence as they prepare to begin their university journey next week.
