On 24–25 March 2026, the School of Languages and General Education (SOLGEN), Walailak University, joined the organization of academic activities under the Walailak Research Convention 2026 (WRC 2026), held in a hybrid format at Walailak University. The convention brought together scholars, researchers, and participants from Thailand and various countries to exchange academic knowledge, research experiences, and perspectives.

SOLGEN’s participation reflects its commitment to advancing international academic collaboration. As a co-organizer of the international conference entitled “The Power of Narrative: Reshaping Socio-Historical Landscapes and Gender through the Lens of World Literature,” SOLGEN contributed to an academic platform that encouraged scholars and researchers from diverse disciplines to exchange knowledge and perspectives on literature, history, society, culture, and gender through cross-cultural approaches.

The conference was organized by the Center of Excellence on Women and Social Security (CEWSS) in collaboration with the School of Languages and General Education (SOLGEN), the School of Liberal Arts, and the School of Political Science and Public Administration. Scholars and participants from Malaysia, China, India, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Iran, Thailand, and other countries took part in the conference, demonstrating the diversity and growing strength of Walailak University’s international academic network.

The program featured keynote lectures, academic discussions, panel discussions, and parallel research presentation sessions. Distinguished international scholars were invited to share their expertise and perspectives, including Professor Rachel V. Harrison from SOAS, University of London, who delivered a keynote lecture entitled “Thai Literature as World Literature: Thai Culture as World Culture.” Her lecture explored Thai literature and culture within a broader global context and highlighted the importance of cross-cultural exchange and comparative approaches in literary studies.

The conference also provided opportunities for scholars and researchers from different countries and academic disciplines to exchange knowledge, share research perspectives, and establish professional connections. These interactions have the potential to develop into future collaborations in research, teaching, and other academic activities.

SOLGEN’s role as a co-organizer of this international academic conference represents an important contribution to Walailak University’s internationalization efforts. Through connecting scholars, researchers, and academic institutions from Thailand and abroad, SOLGEN helps create opportunities for knowledge exchange, strengthen international academic networks, and foster sustainable academic collaboration.

WRC 2026 therefore served not only as a platform for academic presentations and knowledge exchange, but also as an important avenue for building relationships among scholars and researchers from around the world and expanding opportunities for international academic collaboration. These efforts contribute to the advancement of research, knowledge, and academic partnerships in an increasingly interconnected global community.
