GEN67-121 Integrated English Skills for Upper Beginners
Course Description
This course is for upper beginner students, designed to improve their receptive (listening and reading) and productive (speaking and writing) English skills. Through engaging in in-class and out-of-class activities, it also improves students' sub-skills, such as proper pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure. Additionally, this course promotes students' abilities to use English confidently, learn independently, and apply the acquired communication skills in daily life.
The Languages Department also employs a team teaching approach, with course coordinators responsible for coordinating with lecturers throughout the processes of course development, lesson planning, teaching delivery, and assessment. Classes are conducted in small groups of approximately 25 students. Each group applies the same teaching tools, assessment criteria, and instructional methods to maintain consistency. Storytelling is integrated into teaching to stimulate imagination and creativity while connecting to students’ real-life experiences. This approach enhances classroom participation, creates an enjoyable and positive attitude toward language learning, and builds a strong foundation in language, including grammar, vocabulary, and other English language skills.
