City University of Hong Kong

City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has a program called Gateway Education, which focuses on teaching basic subjects in the fields of humanities, social sciences, business, science, and technology. The university is located near the Festival Walk shopping center on Kowloon Island, Hong Kong.
One interesting aspect of the university is, although the campus is not very large, the space is used efficiently, with a strong focus on innovation and technology. The names of the departments reflect their identity. Throughout the campus, there are areas showcasing various innovations, as well as spaces where students can engage in activities and display their work along the hallways. We observed a project related to Service Learning, where students participate in activities they are passionate about to serve the community.
We were warmly welcomed and guided around the campus by Associate Professor Jack PUN Kwok Hung from the Department of English. After the tour, we had a discussion about the use of English as a medium of instruction at the university. Professor PUN has conducted extensive research on English language teaching and has also written books on using English as a medium of instruction.
